How to Stay Organized ALL the Time

April 23, 2015 by Rebecca Huff // This post contains affiliate links

You need to stay organized all the time, but how, when you have so many people in your family?

I have the solution, now all you have to do is get on board. Maybe you only have yourself to worry about, instead of an entire team of people? You can still stay organized all the time by using Cozi.

Cozi Calendar Week View
Color code each person on your Cozi calendar so they can see at a glance which appointment includes them.

It's easy to add in other calendars. For example, I have added in a weather calendar to my page so I can see at a glance what today's weather will look like. Do I need to wear rain boots old sneakers (who am I kidding, I don't own rain boots) or take an umbrella? I can look at my calendar before I start my day and know at a glance what I have going on as well as what I need to wear!

If you notice in the upper portion of this calendar section, there is a little list (the one with $ signs) which is a snippet from our to-do list. My husband asks me to put all the little things I want done around the house on this list so he can see it from his phone. Yes, he enjoys having a to-do list, and yes, he regularly completes things on the list, happily. (I'm so lucky, right?) He can view this list from his phone as well as my Lowe's and/or Home Depot Shopping List. That way I don't have to go in there and become tempted to start a million Pinterest projects.

As you can see, I have added in my own reminders such as “Burst Training” which is just BurstFIT: Dr. Josh Axe's Complete Home Fitness Workout DVD Program as well as my Chinese tutoring, that is because Cozi will send me a reminder via text so that I won't forget what is important to me. I have set other reminders on my phone before, but I had so many that I started to ignore the sound when I was busy.

Receiving a text, I usually always look at my phone. To see only your own appointments, simply click the “Show” button and select your name. If you need to keep track of several people (and take them to work) you will want to click “All” so that you can view the calendar with every appointment that is set up for every person included on your calendar.

Not everyone has to have a phone to make this work. Some of my family members only use email, and some are simply listed on my calendar but do not receive notifications. It is easy to add an appointment by phone or on the computer. If you are looking at the day view, you will see an hour by hour calendar of everything you have planned for that day.

As you can see I am the only person with anything to do on this particular day, just kidding, perhaps some people aren't as into putting their schedule on my calendar, but as long as they add the important dates, we are good.

Having my shopping lists on my phone saves a lot of time as well. If I need one of my older children or my husband to pick up a few items I can just add them to my list and they will have access to the list on their phones.

Cozi app is totally free and you can go to the Cozi website to set up your free account. As far as getting the “gold” version, the main reason I get the gold is to clear the ads, but it is also very handy to keep track of Birthdays. Don't hate me for not sending you a card, I meant to!

With Cozi Gold you can also keep track of contacts, but I don't really use that feature yet.  If you upgrade to gold, it applies to every device on your account, for me that is 9 people, so it was well worth it.  With the gold version, you can also get 3 reminders per appointment, so sometimes I will remind myself a week in advance, then a day in advance and then an hour in advance.

This way I can do whatever it takes to prepare for that upcoming appointment, like buy the groceries to make cookies for a bake sale, then a reminder to bake the cookies, then a reminder to GO to the bake sale! I've had Cozi for several years now, and tried to go a year without it, but I can't go back now. It's just too convenient!

Cozi also has a feature that allows you to keep a family journal, it's like social media/diary for your family only. If you are interested, I'll be glad to share how we use that in a future post!  I have already shared with you how I plan my meals using Cozi, so don't forget to read that post before you go.
