Do you guys have some things that are just like your favorite things? Nothing beats finding out about favorite things you will love from your mom or a close friend. I've been reviewing products on and off for about nine years now! At first, the only things I reviewed were various school curriculums and toys, but now I review pretty much anything useful.
I guess you could say I like sharing when I find the good things! I love to share so I'm going to give away something from this video. Get the details down below. Oh, by the way, I didn't mention the giveaway in the video because I'm only doing the giveaway for my TOM Tribe members. So, make sure you are signed up as a member, then comment on this post “go fish,” and you'll be entered!
Since I've been recovering from Lyme Disease and mold illness (and my iron stores are still depleted – meaning more iron infusions), I haven't shared as many of my favorite things videos as I used to. Today though, two of my favorite things are part of my daily self-care habits, and one keeps me organized!
You can watch the Favorite things video here and also find descriptions and my affiliate links below the video. Thanks for being part of the TOM Tribe! If you are like me and have a knack for finding the best things, feel free to recommend products to me!
First favorite thing:
Every day my kids and I have “tea time” around 2 o'clock. So we use this kettle daily. It's one of the items that made the TOM Team's Best product awards in 2018. First, we love it because it looks cool. Second, they had one on Shopping King Louie, a fun Korean drama that we watched. It's actually quite useful for making tea, heating your coffee cup, making ramen, or instant soup, and whatever you need boiling water for!
Second favorite thing:
The story of Jiang Taigong is an interesting one. Jiang Taigong was a great military strategist in China long before Sun Tzu's Art of War was written. As the story goes, Jiang Taigoing would be sitting on the grass, fishing with a bamboo pole that had a barbless hook attached to it. The hook was then positioned a few feet above the surface of the water instead of down in the water. His unique act of fishing was based on his theory that the fish would come to him of their own will when they were ready. This action requires the fisherman to be patient minding the philosophy of “if one waits long enough good things will come their way.”
Personally, I say good things come to those who go out and hustle, but whatever, I think these are so cute, and I enjoy studying China's history. There are a few videos from my trip to China on my youtube channel where I walked the great wall and visited the terra-cotta soldiers.
Third favorite thing:
As part of my continuing effort to reduce waste and go green, I started using these produce bags. Every Monday, Shawna and I go shopping as part of our “just the two of us” day. It's her job to make sure we have our coupons loaded on Ibotta and Checkout 51, we've got our list, and our bags.
How to always have your reusable bags
I kept these bags in the trunk of my car when I first got them and then my husband installed this useful set of hooks in my garage. For months, instead of putting the bags back in my trunk, they would end up on the hooks instead. That meant I'd buy a new bag or two. So I ended up with too many bags. After he built this hook system, I had to retrain myself to put them back in the trunk. Moral of the story: if you store them in your car, you will always have them at the store.
It seems like I'm always in a hurry when I put away the groceries but I created a new habit of putting the other set of bags in the trunk of my car before I emptied the bags full of groceries. Then when I finish putting away the groceries, I fold those bags and store them on my hooks. It's a system, my system, and it works for me; you may not have “too many bags” and use a different system. It's not the actual system that counts it's that you have one in place and it makes your life easier.
